Chrysler PT Cruiser

Chrysler PT Cruiser
When the PT Cruiser was introduced in 2000, it represented everything Chrysler was doing right: It had innovative styling and was unabashedly American. Ten years later, it represented everything Chrysler was doing wrong: The design was dated, the interior felt cheap, and the build quality was indifferent. Chrysler dropped the PT convertible in 2009, the turbocharged PT GT in 2010, and the remaining PT Cruiser base model in 2011. To be fair, it's hard to redesign a car like the PT Cruiser, which was penned to pay homage to a very specific type of vehicle; Chevrolet's HHR stands as a testament to how difficult it is to get a car like this just right. And the PT's unique shape made it difficult to amortize costs by developing Dodge and Jeep variants. Still, it's a bit of a shame Chrysler didn't create a new PT Cruiser -- besides being a real head-turner, the PT was a rather practical car.
